2:44 am - punk rock prom
|
For Immediate Release
PUNK ROCK PROM 2006
Punk Rock Prom is an annual event currently in its third year. The initial event was held at the Masonic Temple in June 2004, while last year's was held at the St. John's Curling Club. The past two years has proved a lasting interest in this atypical event, where elements of a classy, well-dressed atmosphere is fused with the likes of an energetic, do-it-yourself underground punk show. Last year in particular was a shining example of this fusion: semiformal dress, a variety food and drinks included in the admission price, onsite photography of dates and friends, king and queen crowning, a dance-off, a whole slew of prizes and of course, the bands! The last two years were very well-received and as September 1st approaches in the year of 2006, the Punk Rock Prom shows no signs of becoming stagnant. Please join us in a fun-filled evening of taking two completely different events and making it a spectacle you will not soon forget.
Friday September 1st The St. John's Curling Club (on Mayor Avenue) Doors open at 6:30pm Starts at 7:00pm $8.00 admission (this includes access to food and drinks throughout the evening) All ages are welcome Semiformal dress is required or at the very least encouraged

There will be two dances: one for the king and queen (the king and queen will be voted by the first 100 people who pay; we will count the votes and crown them at 10:00pm) and one for the dance-off (during the song, a jury of three people will pick the best dancer who will receive a gift certificate from Fred's Records).

that's right, fuckers.
i have a job interview at a&w in 35 minutes. wish me luck. getting this job will: a) furtherly confirm that the five year plan!/greta garbo split lp will come out this summer. b) give me money to go on tour with the hamel.
speaking of the tour, it really sucks how adam couldn't go. to be honest, i don't really wanna go anymore, but i'll go if eveyrone else if up for it. i hope adam junior gets to play with us in september.
i want to play spotlight. last time everyone was playing me and chuck missed it because we went to see shrek 2. that was a good movie by the way.
dave strange + jenny valentine = a-list people. dammit, i love nice people.
i had an interview a few days ago on cbc about my record label. it was okay. i have it taped off incase any of yous guys wanted to hear it.
i need haircut. but kallista's afraid to cut my hair. i asked steve if he would give me a fade, but he doesn't know how. he just knows how to look good with them.
june 5th is the punk rock prom. there's still a few more odds and ends to work out... i totally need to find a bass amp. adam... if we could use yours, that would be amazing dude... we could work out a way to get it there and back, i'm sure. get back to me.
june 7th is me and kallista's two year anniversary. i have no idea what we're doing. i just wanna eat food. mmmm foood.
well time to go to my interview. greta garbo/five year plan/trailer camp/whale song need to jam this week. if you are in any of these bands: i will be talking to you soon.

you know how people have these strange sub-goals in life? either going some place or collecting something... well, i have decided my main sub-goal in life: i will, at some point, own every single no idea record, from NIR-001 to NIR-1XX before i die. there, i said it. here is what i have so far.

i figured i'd get a livejournal, just for the hell of it.
my main journal can be viewed here.
today is easter. i had a lovely dinner. too bad i had to study for quite some time this afternoon and tonight. i will be going out a little later with kallista. i'm not too sure where we're going... walking somewhere. i think i might pick up a movie. i really want to watch a movie tonight. i have no idea why.
anyways, i'm going to add a few people onto my friends list, then go call kallista.
toodle-ooo.
